ABC’s Good
Morning America produced their "full origination" post Oscars live remote show
from the Beverly Hills Hotel and UniSat was front and center. With space
limitations and a desire to minimize an impact on the hotel, GMA required an efficient unit that could handle the complicated
production and KU satellite uplink. Good Morning America network
production executives called upon UniSat’s Digital TES 2 for the job.
UniSat had previously been called by ABC to provide complete production and uplink
services for the highly rated Connie Chung Gary Condit interview in August of
2001.
The two-hour
live show incorporated multiple locations throughout the hotel, both
indoors and out. Equipment complement included 5 Ikegami HL59W triax cameras (11
triax cable drops), 2 Fujinon 4.8 wide angle lens, Vinten Osprey camera
pedestal, Stedicam, jib camera system,
dual path KU satellite uplink, 2 KU returns, C Band network return, 6 12/10 bit
frame synchronizers, 14 telephone hybrids, 29 telephone lines (9 cellular), 44
microphones, 8 wireless IFB transmitters, 6 wireless intercom systems and over
13,500 feet of video and audio cabling. UniSat also provided production
and satellite services to multiple BBC shows including BBC World and News 24,
during the busy Academy Awards Show week. |
